Wisconsin Turns Back Georgia

Ann Klapperich scored four of her 10 points in overtime as No. 11 Wisconsin beat 17th-ranked Georgia 74-64 Sunday in Athens, Ga.

Georgia’s Elana Vishniakova made all three free throws after she was fouled on a 3-point attempt with 1.2 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 61-61.

But the Bulldogs (9-3) were only 1 of 12 from the field in the overtime while Wisconsin shot 3 for 5.

LaTonya Simms led Wisconsin (10-3) with 20 points, including the Badgers’ first eight points of the game. Katie Voight added 19 - four of them 3-pointers.

The Badgers had a four-point lead in regulation before Georgia’s Pam Irwin, who finished with 18 points, hit a 3-pointer with 9.8 seconds left.

(13) Illinois 88, (21) Colorado 48

At Champaign, Ill., Melissa Parker scored 16 points as the Fighting Illini knocked off Colorado in a non-league contest, holding the Buffaloes to their lowest point total of the season.

Illinois took a 14-4 lead and never trailed. The Illini led 30-17 at the half.
