Reserve Niesa Johnson scored 11 of her season-high 21 points in the second quarter as the Long Beach StingRays beat the Seattle Reign 82-66 Sunday in Seattle.

Seattle had its three-game win streak snapped. The Reign were led by the 16 points and 11 rebounds of Val Whiting, who tallied her 10th career double-double.

Kate Starbird scored 15 points and Kate Paye added 12 for Seattle, which played without All-Star Shalonda Enis. Enis is out indefinitely after hyperextending her right knee in practice Friday.

“We were all very scared when Shalonda went down,” Starbird said. “We felt like we could live without her, but she did score about 40 against Long Beach the last time we played them.”
