Lake City Shoots Past East Valley

The Lake City Timberwolves’ hot shooting guided them in a 59-39 Border League victory over the host East Valley Knights Friday night.

The T-Wolves shot 50 percent (28 of 56) from the field, and only gave up six turnovers to push their record to 17-0 overall, 13-0 league.

Alison Asher added nine rebounds and a game-high 14 points for the Timberwolves on a 7-of-10 shooting.

The Knights fell to 4-9, 3-6.

Despite being down by one at halftime, the Eagles (8-6, 6-4) were able to come back and defeat the Vikings at Coeur d’Alene.

The Vikings were only able to hit 18 of 63 from the field and made just 5 of 14 from the foul line, dropping to 5-12, 4-9. Shaylia Davis fouled out late in the game with a game-high 19 points for the Vikings.

The Trojans’ defense smothered scoring leader Anna Getz of the visiting Blackhawks, holding her to six points at Post Falls.

Getz leads the Border League with an average of 18 points a game.

Janelle Ruen led the Trojans with 14 points, seven assists and 11 steals, improving the Trojans to 11-6, 9-5. Freshman center Chris Johnson made 7 of 10 for 14 points.

The Blackhawks (10-4, 8-2) played without Kara Weitman, who is third in the league in scoring.

All of the Bears’ players contributed offensively as they blew out the Lumberjacks at St. Maries.

The Bears outscored the cold-shooting Lumberjacks 55-2 in the last 2-1/2-half quarters.

Moscow continues to hold first place in the Intermountain League at 13-2 overall, 6-0 league.
