Maura Eddings Hayden, Idaho

Mass for Maura Eddings, 73, will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Eddings, who was born in Ireland, died Saturday.

She lived in Oklahoma before moving to Hayden in 1959.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Ruttens, Kathy Lewis and Kootenai Medical Center Business Office and was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church.

Mrs. Eddings was a national advocate for Disabled American Veterans and was an active organizer of the Hayden Lake Beauty Pageant for many years.

She was local commander of the DAV Women’s Auxiliary for two years and the DAV Women’s Auxiliary National Americanism Chairperson.

Survivors include her husband, James; a son, Joe Eddings of Post Falls; two daughters, Annette Fillion of Texas and Sarah Shadman of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a sister, Caroline Smith of Ireland; a brother, Jim Madigan of California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James Winter Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for James A. Winter, 76, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Winter, who was born in Pennsylvania, died Monday. He grew up in Pennsylvania and New York and entered the Army after graduating from high school.

Mr. Winter served with the Army in Africa and Europe and was discharged as a sergeant in 1945. He then attended Colorado State College.

He moved to California in the 1960s and owned a moving company.

Mr. Winter moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1980 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 889 and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; four sons, Hugh Winter, and Mike and Kelly Dunham, all of Coeur d’Alene, and David Winter of California; four daughters, Janet Little, Connie Howerton, and Christina Dunham, all of Coeur d’Alene, and Maureen Winter of California; a brother, William Graham of Kellogg; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Hill Deary, Idaho

Viewing for John Hill, 76, will be today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Graveside service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.

Mr. Hill, who was born in Kansas, died Sunday.

He moved to North Idaho in 1946 and worked at the Kellogg zinc plant until 1956. He owned a dairy on Harrison Flats, and then worked a logging operation from 1964 until 1972. He owned the Busy Corner Cafe in Deary for the past 25 years.

He was a member of the Deary Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, John Hill of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Ron Hill of Federal Way, Wash.; two daughters, Sharon Montee of Post Falls and Kay Jarrold of Sandpoint; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

John Silva Airway Heights

Memorial service for John F. Silva is scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Fairchild Air Force Base Chapel. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Silva, who died Monday, was 68. He was born in Stoughton, Mass.

Mr. Silva retired from the Air Force in 1974 as a chief master sergeant. He was a 21-year Airway Heights resident.

He was a member of the Spokane Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Muriel; a brother, Joseph Silva of Deer Park; and a sister, Mary Allen of Tehachapi, Calif.

Edith Munson Chewelah, Wash.

Graveside service for Edith Munson, 94, is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Summit Valley (Wash.) Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Munson, who was born in Waitts Lake, Wash., died Monday.

She was a lifetime resident of Stevens County and was a homemaker.

Survivors include a niece, Shirley Smith of Athol, Idaho; and a grand-niece.

Roxie Critchell Dover, Idaho

Visitation for Roxie G. Critchell, 83, will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Coffelt’s Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Rosary service will be today at 7 p.m. at the chapel. Burial Mass will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Critchell, who was born in Sandpoint, died Sunday.

She attended Granite School and graduated from Athol High School. Mrs. Critchell then graduated from the Lewiston School of Beauty for Hairdressing and returned to the Sandpoint area.

She had spent winters in Utah after her husband’s retirement, and had traveled extensively.

Mrs. Critchell was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild and had served as a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of the Lady Elks and had served as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken.

Survivors include five children, Carol Jensen and Molly Alexander, both of Pocatello, Idaho, Ed Critchell and Erin Critchell, both of Sandpoint and Dorothy Payne of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Kathryn Pangallo of Spirit Lake, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Alvin Dietrich Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Alvin Leon “Al” Dietrich, 83, will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service is planned for at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Coeur d’Alene Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Dietrich, who died Sunday, was born in North Dakota.

He grew up in North Dakota and farmed for many years before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1948.

Mr. Dietrich worked at The Page and Hill pole yard until 1949 and then worked as a salesman at Northside Hardware Store in Coeur d’Alene for 10 years.

He worked at Van’s Early Dawn Creamery and retired in 1977.

Mr. Dietrich was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Coeur d’Alene and was an elder and deacon, as well as serving on several committees.

He was a past member of the Toastmasters and the Coeur d’Alene Wildlife Association.

His wife, Elma, died last March.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Dietrich of Coeur d’Alene and Gerald Dietrich of Port Orchard, Wash.; a daughter, Vivian Bighaus of Oregon; two brothers, Lloyd and Ted Dietrich, both of California; a sister, Lila Hoarst of Minnesota; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lake City Junior Academy New School Land, c/o the Coeur d’Alene Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Marion Bradshaw Kellogg

Visitation for Marion E. Bradshaw, 74, will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Service will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.

Mr. Bradshaw, who was born in Libby, Mont., died Sunday.

He served with the Army during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Bradshaw worked as a carpenter and miner for ASARCO for 37 years and was a member of the ASARCO 25-year Club.

His wife, Betty, died in January.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Bradshaw of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Randal Bradshaw of Nevada and Kim Bradshaw of Montana; and six grandchildren.

Frank Kraut Spokane

Memorial Mass for Frank J. Kraut, 89, is set for 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kraut, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.

He was an assistant manager for Woolworth’s in Spokane, worked on the Minuteman Missile program and was a civil service commissioned certified public accountant for Fairchild Air Force Base and Norton Air Force Base in San Bernadino, Calif.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Kent of Salinas, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Beth Braddock-Brown of Sante Fe, N.M.; two brothers, Edwin and Ben Kraut, both of Spokane; two sisters, Marie Standerfer and Katheryn Goeden, both of Spokane; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruth Jones Cataldo, Idaho

Service for Ruth Helen Jones, 82, will be at noon Thursday at Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.

Born in Harrison, Idaho, Mrs. Jones died Sunday.

She was a lifetime area resident and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Casey; three daughters, Betty Capaul of Coeur d’Alene, Bonnie Mack of Republic, Wash., and Sandra Schmitt of Montana; two sisters, Mary Bently of Wallace and Tiny Mead of Hope, Idaho; four brothers, Kenny Arnold of Coeur d’Alene, Bobby and Bud Arnold, both of Prichard, Idaho, and Dick Arnold of Nevada; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert ‘Jim’ McDonald Spokane

Private memorial service will be held for Robert James “Jim” McDonald, 62. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. McDonald died July 22.

He served in the Navy for three years and worked for 18 years at Allied Securities as an alarm monitor. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Sandra; two sons, Jerry and Robert McDonald II, both of Kalispell, Mont.; three daughters, Jacqueline Dilley of Wichita, Kan., LaPreal Brazington of Libby, Mont., and Kelli Crain of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Patrick McDonald, and a sister, Kathleen McDonald, both of Spokane; and 16 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Spokane.

Maxine L. Hazelbaker Peterson Spokane

Graveside service for Maxine L. Hazelbaker Peterson, 74, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Nezperce Cemetery near Grangeville, Idaho. Noland-Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peterson, who was born in Grangeville, died Thursday from cancer.

She grew up in Grangeville and graduated from Grangeville High School in 1941 and moved to Spokane in 1954.

Mrs. Peterson moved to Yakima in 1965 and then returned to Spokane in 1968 and worked as a network service administrator, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Spokane and was also a member of the Retired Telephone Pioneers.

Mrs. Peterson was a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital for the Implant Hearing Assessment Program.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 1986.

Survivors include several cousins.

Suzanne Jensen Careywood, Idaho

Funeral Mass for Suzanne Marie Jensen, 46, will be today at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jensen, who was born in Milwaukee, died Saturday.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Wisconsin and then attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Technical College and the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Mrs. Jensen lived in Michigan, Wisconsin and Tucson, Ariz., before moving to Careywood, Idaho. She worked as a restaurant manager in Arizona and locally for the Donkey Jaw, Flying Fish and Encoder.

She was active with the Careywood Eager Beavers 4-H Club and was a youth soccer coach.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; a son, Jesse at home; her father, Kenneth Gross of Wisconsin; three sisters, Nancy Kurszewski and Barbara Hilsmann, both of Wisconsin and Diane Gross of Washington, D.C.; and four brothers, Lawrence, Allen, Paul and Richard Gross, all of Wisconsin.

George Frame Spokane

Graveside funeral service for George W. Frame, 67, is set for 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Frame, a 27-year resident of Spokane, died July 22.

He was born in Valley Township, Pa.

Mr. Frame retired from the Air Force in 1971 as a staff sergeant. Survivors include a niece, Shirley Schaffer of Pottstown, Pa., and other family members in Pennsylvania.
