Performance Will Aid Council

A benefit performance of “The Beams are Creaking” will be presented at Spokane Civic Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday for the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries.

The play, performed by members of the CAST Performing Arts Center in Hood River, Ore., depicts theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s imprisonment during Nazi Germany for being an advocate for Jews.

Following the one-act performance, John Downey, a theology professor at Gonzaga University and member of the International Bonhoeffer Society, will lead a discussion.

The $10 tickets can be purchased by calling the theater, 1020 N. Howard, at 624-5156.

Church will honor pastor

Coeur d’Alene’s First Presbyterian Church, Sixth and Lakeside, will honor 15 years of service by the Rev. George Lacy at a special reception at 10:15 a.m. Sunday following the 9 a.m. service.
