Developers Ask To Expand Cda Place Greenstone-Kootenai Inc. Also Requesting Changes In Approved Parts Of Subdivision
The Lake City’s largest residential housing development wants to get 25 percent larger.
The developers of Coeur d’Alene Place want to add 190 acres of home lots to the 760 acres near Ramsey Road and Dalton Avenue already being converted from grass fields to houses, streets and parks.
Greenstone-Kootenai Inc. is taking that request to the Coeur d’Alene Planning Commission tonight. Because the Planning Commission has a lengthy agenda, it may postpone the hearing until Nov. 18.
But no decision on a possible delay will be made until the 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall. City officials say interested people should attend just in case the hearing on the expansion goes forward.
In either case, interest in the Coeur d’Alene Place expansion could be high. Coeur d’Alene Place was the largest home development in the area when it opened in 1995.
At that time, city officials estimated it would take 17 years to complete buildings on the 3,547 residential lots.
The proposed expansion package also asks for “substantial changes” in the already-approved portions of the subdivision.
The developer wants to change traffic flow, home lot layout, the configuration of some blocks as well as open-space allocation.
The City Council also will have to approve expanding the development.
PLANNING COMMISSION The Coeur d’Alene Planning Commission meets at 5 p.m. today in the City Council chambers at City Hall. Hearings begin at 6 p.m. The Coeur d’Alene Place hearing may be delayed until Nov. 18, but interested people are encouraged to attend tonight in case the hearing goes forward.
