Ending months of speculation over which soap will stay and go from NBC daytime, 35-year veteran “Another World” will sunset come June, while fledgling “Sunset Beach” earns another six months on the peacock’s schedule.

After NBC’s Wimbledon coverage during the week of June 28, the peacock will introduce its new sudser “Passions” in the 2 p.m. slot belonging to “World,” the Procter & Gamble drama that has been on the air since May 4, 1964. “World” will have its last telecast June 25. “Passions” has been picked up for six months.

In September, NBC News, as previously announced, will launch the hourlong “Later Today” with Jodi Applegate at 9 a.m. “Later” will replace “Leeza,” which enters syndication next season.
