Say Hello To Hayden And Emilie
As quickly as 1998 died, new life was born in 1999.
Sheila Grubbs and Matthew Mowen rang in the new year at Sacred Heart Medical Center, where at 2:29 a.m. Friday Grubbs gave birth to their baby boy, Hayden, Spokane’s first baby of the year.
Hayden’s appearance came quickly and most unexpectedly. “It went really, really fast,” Grubbs said about her labor. She wasn’t due until Jan. 8.
He is the second child for the Spokane couple who also have a 5-year-old daughter, Brittney.
In North Idaho, Emilie Sparks came into the world at 2:35 a.m., the first baby born at Kootenai Medical Center.
At 7 pounds, 8 ounces, she was the first child of Coeur d’Alene residents Shoshoni Senn and Bryce Sparks, both 19.
“I still can’t stop smiling,” Sparks said, as his daughter wailed in the background. “She’s doing wonderful.”
