Fire Department Called After Small Spill At Kaiser

A pot at Kaiser’s Mead plant leaked molten aluminum Saturday night, but caused no injuries and little damage.

Spokane Fire District 9 and one engine from the Spokane Fire Department responded to the scene about 6 p.m., but the cleanup was handled primarily by Kaiser personnel. Apparently, a plug in one of the pots broke and caused the leak, Spokane Fire Capt. Doug Bleeker said.

Kaiser officials could not be reached for comment.
