Sandpoint Man Dies In Crash On U.S. 2

From Staff Reports

A 32-year-old Sandpoint man died early Sunday when the pickup truck he was driving slid off U.S. Highway 2.

The accident occurred around 6 a.m., two miles west of Dover, the Idaho State Police reported.

Christopher Jerome Keeton was eastbound when he drove off the road, according to ISP Cpl. Terry Ford. Keeton overcorrected, returned to the highway, then slid sideways off the south side. The truck plunged down a steep embankment, rolling several times.

Keeton was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. He died at the scene.

The pavement was bare and dry, Ford said. “Speed was definitely a factor.”

Alcohol may also have contributed to the accident, Ford said.
