Phone Scam Seeks Anti-Drug Money

The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Department has received reports about what appears to be a telephone solicitation scam that asks for money on behalf of a drug program.

The caller says he is asking for contributions for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program through the Idaho Sheriffs Association. But the association never has authorized anyone to solicit for the program, Sheriff Randy Kingsbury said.

He said people should either hang up on the caller or try to obtain a call-back number for investigators.
