Released Rapist Living Downtown
A rapist has been released from prison and is living in downtown Spokane, police said Thursday.
Willard M. Wilson, 50, was sentenced to five years in prison in 1995 after pleading guilty in Spokane County Superior Court to one count each of third-degree rape and indecent liberties.
He was released from prison after serving 3-1/2 years.
Wilson was convicted of sexually assaulting a 35-year-old woman who has cerebral palsy. He was working as an assistant at a nursing facility at the time of the attack.
Under the terms of his release, Wilson is to have no contact with disabled people, police said.
State Department of Corrections officials have deemed Wilson a Level III sex offender, considered the highest risk to commit more sex crimes.
He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 190 pounds. He has gray hair, hazel eyes and a scar on his left hand.
Wilson is not wanted by authorities, but police say the public should be aware of his presence in the community.
