Fire Damages South Hill Home

Fire seriously damaged a south east Spokane home early Friday, officials said.

Firefighters were called to 2802 E. 16th Ave. about 12:45 a.m. and found flames shooting from the attic when they arrived, fire officials said.

The home’s occupant and her three children had escaped safely.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a malfunctioning chimney, officials said. No cost estimates on damages were available.
