Spiritual leader: Rev. Lawrence Hudson.

Affiliation: Member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Church members emphasize a belief in the Bible and follow three essentials of faith: a belief that the Bible is the word of God, that Jesus is the risen savior of all people, and that each person needs a personal relationship with God.

Congregation: 125 members. An average of 80 attend Sunday worship.

Style of worship: Services include music, spontaneous prayer, Scripture readings and a sermon.

Services: 10:45 a.m. Sundays (747-2818)

History: The church was founded as the Swedish Christian Mission Church in 1888 by a group of Swedish immigrants. The group met in homes, empty stores and other locations until a church building was constructed in 1890 at the corner of Riverside and Sherman.

The church changed its name to Swedish Tabernacle in 1906 and also constructed the current building on Division at year.

Church services and committee meetings were conducted in Swedish until the church gradually converted entirely to English by the late 1930s. The church was renamed First Covenant in January 1939.
