Lake City Nudges Moscow

Border League boys

Lake City played better on offense and mixed that with its usual defensive intensity in holding off Moscow, 49-47, Friday in a Border League game in Coeur d’Alene.

LC let Moscow stay closer than it should have in the final quarter as the T-Wolves made just 3 of 13 foul shots, 13 of 27 overall. LC was shooting 62 percent from the line going into the game after a 7-for-17 effort in a 47-46 loss to East Valley on Tuesday.

At least when it mattered most, though, LC’s best freethrow shooter was at the line. Jeff Schuh, a 72-percent foul shooter, made two free throws with 11 seconds left.

Moscow’s lone 3-point attempt in the final seconds was partially blocked before B.J. Garrett made an oh-by-the-way jumper for the Bears at the buzzer.

Andrew Burgess hit 5 of 8 3-pointers on his way to 24 points as the Knights defeated the visiting Bulldogs to remain tied for first place with WV.

Burgess, 9 of 20 from the field, also combined with Blake Horgan for 14 rebounds. EV’s Steve Henderson added eight assists and four steals.
