Despite an overall drop in album sales attributed to the usual post-holiday lull, rapper DMX holds the top position at the nation’s retailers for a second consecutive week.

The hardcore rap star’s second offering, “Flesh of My Flesh - Blood of My Blood,” sold a respectable 248,000 copies during the week ending Jan. 3, according to SoundScan. DMX exploded into the No. 1 spot the previous week on sales of 670,000 copies to dethrone five-week champion Garth Brooks.
