Chief Judge Named For Tribal Court
A longtime Colville tribal public defender, Steve Aycock, will become chief judge of the Colville Tribal Court on Feb. 1.
Aycock, 47, replaces Judge Mary Wynne, whose six-year contract wasn’t renewed.
Tribal Chairman Joe Pakootas said Aycock “has demonstrated excellent management and fiscal responsibilities” in 12 years as director of the tribe’s Legal Services Office.
As chief judge, Aycock will supervise a staff of 10 and a $750,000 annual budget.
An Omak resident, Aycock previously was a Franklin County public defender. He also has been an instructor at the University of Idaho College of Law, where he earned his law degree in 1980.
