Homicide Victim Was Gang Member

From Staff Reports

Spokane police are looking for people who saw a California gang member in the hours before he was shot on the South Hill.

The body of 25-year-old Albert D. Edwards was discovered in the back yard of a house in the 1400 block of West 10th Avenue about 5 a.m. Saturday.

An autopsy determined he had been shot to death.

Residents reported hearing gunshots about eight hours before Edwards’ body was found. Police searched the area Friday night but didn’t see the body, which was in a yard surrounded by a wooden fence.

Detectives said Thursday that Edwards was a gang member from Long Beach, Calif., who had been living in Spokane.

Investigators have no motive in the shooting and have made no arrests, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

Anyone with information on the case, or who saw Edwards last Friday evening, is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
