Tribal Casino To Honor Lawrence Aripa

A ceremony dedicating the new Lawrence Aripa conference room will be conducted at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino on Wednesday.

The 2 p.m. ceremony will be part of the grand opening of the High Mountain Steakhouse at the casino, on U.S. Highway 95 north of Worley.

The day’s festivities include a free Freddie Fender concert at 7 p.m.

Members of the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council will be present for the dedication. Lawrence Aripa, who died in October, was a council member for 17 years. A traditional storyteller, he visited Inland Northwest schools to share the tribe’s history.

The casino, which opened as a bingo hall in 1993, recently expanded to 180,000 square feet.
