Zephyr Concert Explores Jewish Music

The list of Jewish composers is a long one and includes songwriters Irving Berlin and George Gershwin and symphonists Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. Zephyr will explore more Jewish music, American and Israeli, on a program titled “Praises and Lamentation” Wednesday at Temple Beth Shalom.

Performers include pianist Kendall Feeney, Zephyr’s artistic director, violinist Kelly Farris, clarinetist Anthony Taylor, cellist Darrett Adkins and members of the Seattle-based klezmer ensemble the Kosher Red Hots band, clarinetist Liz Dreisbach and bassist Eugene Jablonsky. They perform works by Ernest Bloch, Osvaldo Golijov, Leo Orenstein, Paul Ben-Haim, and David Schiff.

The Zephyr concert begins at 8 p.m. at Temple Beth Shalom, 1322 E. 30th.

Tickets are $15, $8 for students, available through G&B Select-a-Seat, 325-SEAT or (800) 325-SEAT.
