CV Rolls At River City Duals

Central Valley won four consecutive matches, three by pins, to rally to a 35-23 victory over Lake City at the River City Duals wrestling tournament in Post Falls on Friday.

Pasco totaled five pins en route to a 52-9 win over Lakeland. Colville jumped out to a 35-0 lead and cruised past Kamiak 44-18. Mt. Spokane dominated the upper-weight classes, winning five of seven matches, and held off Post Falls 30-28.

West Valley had a first-day high nine pins on its way to a 54-18 victory over Priest River. Kellogg jumped out to a 24-0 lead and held off Nampa 44-27. Skyview tallied four pins and beat Ephrata 43-17 and Shadle Park dominated Coeur d’Alene 43-19.

Mount Spokane takes on Kellogg, Colville goes up against Shadle Park, Pasco squares off against Central Valley and Skyview takes on West Valley in today’s winners’ bracket matches.

The two-day event resumes at 10:30 a.m. today. Every team will wrestle three matches on the day.

NIC wrestling

Northwest Wyoming won’t soon forget the Springer brothers.

North Idaho’s Justin Springer and his brother Brandon won decisions in the final two matches to rally the Cardinals to a 21-16 non-conference wrestling victory over Northwest Wyoming on Friday in Missoula.

Justin earned a 3-1 decision in the 157-pound class, giving NIC three points and an 18-16 lead.

Brandon followed that with a 6-2 win in the 165-pound class to give the Cardinals a hard-fought victory.

Shaun Williams, the No. 1-ranked community college wrestler in the country in the 125-pound class, picked up the only pin of the match. It took him just 31 seconds.
