The Ticker A Look Back At The Past Week On Wall Street

WHAT’S HOT

Adding to the growing list of successful Internet IPO’s, Marketwatch.com Inc. gained 475 percent to close at $97.50 Friday after making its Wall Street debut at $17 per share.

Marketwatch.com, which provides financial news on its Web site, is a joint venture between CBS Corp. and Data Broadcasting Corp.

Legal skirmishes aside, Microsoft recovered from a mid-week decline. Friday, the software giant gained $8 a share to close near even, at $149.75.

WHAT’S NOT

Shares of chip maker Advanced Micro Devices, an Intel Corp. competitor, skidded last week after posting lower than expected quarterly earnings. Advanced Micro closed the week at 22.38 after dropping 15 percent on Thursday. The company showed earnings of 15 cents a share on revenues of $22.3 million. Earnings were 4 cents a share lower than analysts expected.

Yahoo was one of the few Internet stocks ending the week on a down note. A big rally early this week took shares above $400, but shares then plummeted, closing at $317.
