Andrew Burgess scored 32 points on Saturday, including a 10-for-10 effort from the free-throw line, as East Valley tied for the Border League lead with a 60-40 win at Moscow.

The Knights (8-1 BL) caught Class 3A thirdranked West Valley, which was upset at Sandpoint 72-68 in overtime. It was the first loss for the Eagles (10-1, 8-1). The Bulldogs improved to 7-6, 6-5.

In East Valley’s win, Burgess hit eight free throws in the final 1-1/2 minutes, during a span when the Knights were 11 of 12 at the line.

Blake Horgan added 13 rebounds and Steve Henderson four assists for EV.

Jon Shupe had eight rebounds for the Bears, who finished 17 of 55 from the floor.
