Andrew Burgess scored 32 points, including a 10-for-10 effort from the free-throw line, to lead East Valley to a 60-40 win at Moscow in the Border League on Saturday.

Burgess hit eight free throws in the final 1-1/2 minutes, during a span when the Knights were 11 of 12 at the line.

Blake Horgan added 13 rebounds and Steve Henderson four assists for EV, which gained a tie for first in the Border League when West Valley was upset at Sandpoint.

Jon Shupe had eight rebounds for the Bears, who finished 17 of 55 from the floor.

The Bulldogs (7-6, 6-5) handed West Valley its first loss and dropped the Eagles (10-1, 8-1) into a first-place tie in the Border League with East Valley.

Ben Woodard totaled 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Blackhawks defeated the visiting Trojans in a Border League game to give coach Denny Humphrey another coaching milestone.

Humphrey earned his 503rd career win to snap a sixth-place tie on the alltime list with Les Eathorne (Olympic, Bremerton, Camas, East Bremerton).
