Pasco Wins Team Duals; Central Valley Takes Fifth

Pasco swept through the River City Duals in anticlimatic fashion, defeating Colville 41-12 in the final at Post Falls High School.

The Bulldogs jumped to a 7-0 lead and never fell behind.

Pasco’s Peter Francick’s grueling 4-0 victory over James Divis was the winning match that sealed the tournament for the Bulldogs.

It was sweet revenge for the Bulldogs, who finished third last year in the tournament. It was also an indication for Bulldogs coach Bod Bodnar as to where is team is headed.

“Half the team here has only half a season experience because of winning state in football,” said Bodnar. “Our goal is to win the Mat Classic and we are getting out of the Tri-Cities as much as we can to prepare. I still think we have a lot of catching up to do, but I am pleased with how we are doing.”

Central Valley was the GSL’s top finisher, placing fifth. Bears coach Brett Racicot, although disappointed in the Bears’ placing, was pleased with the team’s performance.

CV lost to Skyview in the opening round 38-16, then went undefeated for the remainder of the tournament.

“It is kind of tough to win here because it’s a different weight class,” said Racicot. “We had to bump everyone up a weight and we had a few guys out with injuries. I think if we had brought our regular team out we could have done better.”

Shadle Park finished sixth, losing to CV, and Mt. Spokane defeated West Valley for seventh. The Wildcats tied the Eagles in the final, but were declared the victor for winning more matches.
