WSU Jumpers Open Season With Qualifiers

Washington State jumpers Whitney Evans and Jeannette Martus met NCAA provisional qualify ing standards as the collegiate indoor track season got under way at the EWU Early Bird Open in Cheney.

Evans, a freshman from Calgary, won the women’s high jump (5-9-3/4). Michigan State transfer Martus set a Thorpe Fieldhouse record with a pole vault of 11-5-3/4.

Other Thorpe records were set by WSU’s Francesca Green Sewell in the women’s 60 meters (7.69 seconds), Ellannee Richardson in the women’s 60 hurdles (8.81), Becky Potter in the 20-pound weight throw (52-2-3/4) and Arend Watkins in the men’s 60 hurdles (7.94).
