Casino’S Boxing Card Starts To Take Shape

Some of the blanks were filled in this week in preparation for the Feb. 4 professional boxing card at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino in Worley.

Unbeaten heavyweight David Bostice, of Mesa, Ariz., will put his 13-0-1 record on the line in an 8-round preliminary against William Bonkavich (7-2-1) of Las Vegas, matchmaker Moe Smith said Wednesday.

Other opponents on the undercard were lined up. Obed Sullivan’s target in a six-round heavyweight prelim will be Terry Verners (8-21-2), of Fresno, Calif.

Jesse Reid Jr., is scheduled to meet Joe Copeland, of Oklahoma City, in Copeland’s pro debut.

Welterweight Sarah Schmedding of Greenacres, pulled out of the card. Sandra Yard (3-2-2), of Palm Desert, Calif., will meet Spokane’s Layla McCarter (1-0-0) in the women’s bout.

In the 10-round main event, Oleg Maskaev (15-2-0) squares off with Jeff Wooden (18-7-0).

Maskaev’s sparring partner and stablemate, Dmitri Naumov, was also added. He’ll take on James Partch, of Portland.

Josh Dempsey, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound slugger from Torrance, Calif., fights journeyman Tyrone Booze (22-12-2) of Hartford, Conn., in the 10-round co-feature. Booze once was a highly regarded cruiserweight. Dempsey is 19-3 with 18 knockouts.

Tickets at $12.50, $25 and $50 are available at G&B outlets or the casino.
