Sex Offenders Subject Of Public Meeting

Officers with the police department’s Sexual Exploitation Unit will meet with residents in the West Central neighborhood today to discuss several high-risk sex offenders who have recently moved into the neighborhood.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the West Central COPS substation, 1901 W. Boone Ave. It is open to the public.

Officers will discuss the rights of residents to be notified of the offenders as well as the offender’s right to privacy. Tips on parental advice for children and personal safety also will be offered.
