Tekoa-Oakesdale Perfect Against Bi-County Rivals

Tekoa-Oakesdale reached the halfway point of the Whitman County League season with a perfect record on Friday.

Heather Cox scored 20 as the Nighthawks (5-0 league) held off Class B fourth-ranked Garfield-Palouse 43-37 at Palouse.

The Vikings cut T-O’s lead to three with less than 2 minutes left, but came no closer. Gar-Pal’s Katie Coles had eight rebounds and five steals.

SJE broke to a 9-0 lead but couldn’t overcome the Tigercats’ 11 fourth-quarter points from the line. L-W’s Stefanie Wigen hit two free throws with 4 seconds left to seal the win.

Rachea Allert hit two free throws with 1 second left as the Rangers, who trailed the whole game, defeated the North Division-leading Mustangs at Ione.

Selkirk trailed 23-6 with 6 minutes left in the first half and was down by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter. Northport’s Karen Sauvola surpassed 1,400 points for her career.
