Jesse Frickey grabbed 13 rebounds and Wyatt Zimmerer had 12 as Deer Park defeated Newport 102-66 in a Great Northern League game Tuesday night at Deer Park.

Reserve Zack Axel had 10 assists. Deer Park’s leading scorer, Adam Swinyard, made 7 of 9 field goals and 3 of 5 free throws for 17 points, but didn’t play for half the third quarter and all of the fourth.

The Stags had 11 steals and converted 29 of 34 free throws, including 8 of 8 by Ty Thompson.

Gabe Smith was 6 of 7 from the line and 3 of 4 from 3-point range for 27 points. Smith scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and also had seven rebounds and five steals.

Gar-Pal, which scored the first four points of the second OT, held a 43-37 rebounding edge.

Zach Johnson had nine rebounds and four blocks and was 6 of 12 from the field and 4 of 4 at the line for 16 points. Fox also had nine rebounds.

The Vikings missed a chance to win it with 20 seconds left in regulation.
