Quaker’S New Rice Cake Sweet Cinnamon Treat

In going over our year-end records, we realized that we failed to feed The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel a single rice cake in 1998 - a clear violation of federal food-tasting regulations.

So to even the score, not to mention welcome our new members in style, we served Quaker’s new Cinnamon Streusel rice cakes at our first meeting of 1999.

The crunchy cakes, sprinkled with cinnamon chips, actually got pretty good grades, although most panelists didn’t quite buy Quaker’s claims about “bakery-fresh flavor” and “wholesome alternative to coffee cake.”

Next time, a little less rice and a little more cake, please.
