St. Maries Wrestling Team On Its Way To Sitting On Top Of Intermountain
The St. Maries wrestling team looks as if it’s on the way to a second straight Intermountain League title.
The Lumberjacks defeated Kellogg 33-29 on Tuesday at St. Maries in a battle of two of the league’s top dual meet teams.
At 152 pounds, Joe Nelson scored a takedown in overtime to earn a 6-4 win over Ryan Frank.
Aaron Ford earned a 16-12 decision over Brian Nansel in a back-and-forth matchup at 135 pounds.
Rodney Hill’s pin at 189 pounds over Martin Katzinski clinched the victory for the Lumberjacks.
In another IML match at Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint held off the Badgers 37-35, picking up three pins and accepting two forfeits.
Kyle Watson (103), Mick Coon (125), and Tony Hook (135) earned pins, while Reggie Ross earned a 9-1 major decision at 130 pounds.
Bonners Ferry made it close with two pins and a forfeit win in the final three matches and won five of the last six matches overall.
