Teachers Credit Union Renovation Is Finished

The Spokane Teachers Credit Union has finished a renovation of its Valley branch, adding additional parking, two new drive-thru lanes, a children’s play area and a 24-hour lobby.

The remodel also added an additional teller window inside and an express lane, where members can order checks, add another account or apply for services such as direct deposit.

Members can now access account information online through a new online station.

The credit union’s 24-hour lobby provides an ATM and a new computerized vehicle purchasing data base.

Members can access Web-based auto-buying resources, find out about credit union auto loans and apply for a loan 24 hours a day.

The Spokane Teachers Credit Union serves 63,000 members with $334,000,000 in assets. Its Valley branch is located at 13501 E. Sprague Ave.

Preschool expands

Kid City Preschool at 5920 E. Ninth has expanded to become Kid City Kindergarten and Preschool.

The private, non-religious kindergarten program is accepting students for the current year and for next fall.

Class size will be limited to 15 students. Instead of half days, the school will hold kindergarten from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kid City’s owners, Lucenette and Mitchell Hicks, have enrolled their own child in the program, which currently uses the Spokane School District’s kindergarten curriculum. Tuition is $350 per month.

Kid City is licensed to take 42 children, ranging from one month to 12 years. Older children attend before and after school.

Baskin Robbins on Trent

West Valley native Tom Wall has opened up a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop at 8901 E. Trent Rd.

Wall and his wife, Joan, also own and operate two other Baskin Robbins stores in the Spokane area.

Their son and daughter-in-law will help manage the three shops, Wall said.

The new store will carry about 40 flavors of ice cream and a variety of frozen desserts, including ice cream cakes, sundaes, smoothies and cappuccino blasts. Its one of more than 4,000 Baskin Robbins stores worldwide.

Insurance agent

Doty retires Long-time Valley insurance broker Dick Doty has retired and sold his business to employee Ken Giles.

Giles has worked for Dick Doty and Associates Inc. since 1991 and has served as its manager since 1994. The agency now will be known as Doty and Giles Inc.

The business, founded in 1964, will continue to offer the same insurance products. It will remain at 1213 N. Pines.
