Woman Injured After Truck Hits Her

A 33-year-old St. Maries woman was in critical condition Wednesday after her boyfriend accidentally hit her with his truck.

Lori J. Kuhns ran in front of the pickup driven by Thomas E. Fuller, 37, also of St. Maries, and was hit when he could not stop in time, according to the Idaho State Police. Fuller saw Kuhns, but was unable to stop on icy Charlie Creek Road and hit her when she slipped and fell, police said.

The truck’s bumper struck Kuhns, who avoided the tires as the pickup slid over her, police said. Kuhns was flown to Kootenai Medical Center after the accident early Wednesday.

A hospital spokesman said doctors listed Kuhns in critical condition.

Officers have not determined why Kuhns ran out in front of the truck.

Fuller does not appear to be at fault in the accident, police said.

However, Fuller was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Police did not say what crime the warrant accused Fuller of committing.
