Ex-Swackhammer’S Owner Faces Another Legal Battle

A Bellevue music booking company is suing the owner and an employee of Swackhammer’s Concert Club, a North Spokane nightclub that closed last September, for failing to pay $67,000 in commissions, deposits and late fees.

According to a suit filed last week in Spokane County Superior Court, Swackhammer’s contracted with Andy Mirkovich Productions to book such bands as Blue Oyster Cult and Joan Jett.

However, club owners failed to pay the amounts owed, and several deposit checks bounced, the suit alleges.

The suit targets Swackhammer’s majority owner John Henderson, and David Strelz, Swackhammer’s entertainment director, whose personal check to Andy Mirkovich Productions for a band deposit also bounced, according to the suit

Swackhammer’s, and its sister club in the Spokane Valley, McQ’s Billiards, both closed their doors after scheduling an ambitious lineup of concerts.

Andy Mirkovich Productions is believed to be one of numerous creditors owed money by Henderson, who has apparently left Spokane.

Henderson and Strelz could not be reached for comment.
