Find Out Why ‘Rite Of Spring’ Caused A Stir

Stravinsky’s ballet “Rite of Spring” caused an uproar at its premiere in 1913. Tonight at the Opera House, the Spokane Symphony will show what all the shouting was about. Along with the music from “Rite of Spring,” the orchestra, led by music director Fabio Mechetti will perform music from two other Russian ballets, Tchaikovsky’s Suite from “Swan Lake” and Prokofiev’s “Scythian Suite.”

The music on tonight’s program will be discussed in a pre-concert talk by dancer Stephanie Lindsay and pianist Kendall Feeney in the Opera House auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.

The music starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets range from $14 to $30, available at the symphony box office in the Seafirst Building, 624-1200, and through G&B, 325-SEAT or (800) 325-SEAT.
