Gsl Teams Can Sleep A Little More

One of the least appealing aspects of the Crossover Classic won’t happen for this, the sixth edition.

Gone are the dreaded Greater Spokane League-counting matches that began before the rooster crowed.

Those wake-me-ups are no longer necessary because the number of GSL matches dropped this season from 16 to 10.

The best way to draw every GSL team to past Crossovers was to schedule league-counting matches before pool play started for the other participating teams. This year, the 11 GSL teams are almost all in separate pools for the 40-team tournament.

What hasn’t changed is the quality of the competing teams.

Sixteen of the entered teams played at state tournaments in Washington last year.

Defending State 4A champion Prairie placed fifth at last year’s Crossover and is set to return. Every team that placed in last year’s Crossover top 10 is scheduled to appear.

The Crossover sites are Lewis and Clark, Shadle Park, Ferris, North Central and Gonzaga Prep. Pool play is scheduled to last from 8 a.m. to about 3:30 p.m.

Pool results will determine where teams play for placing matches.
