Identity Of Body In Burned Bin Sought

Police detectives are still searching for the identity of a man who was found in a burned-out Dumpster early Monday morning near the corner of Locust and Third Street.

Coeur d’Alene firefighters discovered the body after putting out a fire in a large trash bin holding cardboard.

Surrounding business owners believe the man could have been a transient who was sleeping in the Dumpster to stay warm. However, police cannot confirm that until the man’s identity is known.

The man is described as white, 35 to 50 years old, 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with upper dentures and one lower tooth.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, fire officials said.
