Lc Trips Moscow

High shots kept Lake City high in the standings Wednesday afternoon.

Ashley Troxel and Kaitlin Mitchell both scored in LC’s 2-1 girls soccer win at Moscow in the Border League.

Troxel’s goal soared over the goalkeeper’s head. Mitchell scored when a Bears defender failed in her attempt to knock away the shot with her head.

LC (10-1-1, 7-1) continued its chase of first-place Coeur d’Alene (7-0). Moscow (11-3-1, 6-1) remained in third place.

Boys soccer

Jared Richards and Jeff Waggoner returned from a two-week absence to guide Coeur d’Alene’s 3-1 win over Lakeland at Rathdrum. Richards scored twice in the first half and set up Waggoner’s second-half goal. They and two other Vikings served a twoweek suspension for violating the school’s athletic code. Coeur d’Alene is 9-2-1, 7-1-1 North Idaho League… . Also in the league, Jake Rosholt’s bending shot at 75 minutes lifted first-place Sandpoint (10-1-2, 7-0-2) to a 3-2 win at Lake City. LC (6-6, 5-4) tied the match at 2 when George Cary beat two defenders and found Mark Landers in front of the goal.
