New State Slogan Could Be ‘Take Your Best Shot’
Does anyone else think the outline of Idaho looks like a goalie’s stick?
Maybe a little? OK, let’s move on.
* A leg up: After the last letter fell off a movie title on a Spokane movie theater’s sign, one featured attraction read “For Love of the Gam.”
Maybe that’s the R-rated version.
* Slice answers: “Lake Huron,” said a transplanted Michigander after we asked what missing body of water was the most glaring omission in River Park Square’s lakes-themed floor art.
Several others were hacked off about Williams Lake not being included. And there were those who quibbled about the shape and position of various other lakes.
So we walked over to the shopping center, map in hand. And we had started checking out these concerns when a little voice spoke to us.
“Once again, you are missing the point,” the voice said. “This is art, not a page from an atlas.”
* Have you heard the latest: A flier announced the focus of an upcoming Spokane career-development training session. “Stopping Gossip In the Workplace,” it said.
Hmmmm. Stop it? Heck, we thought gossip was the No. 2 reason people bothered to show up at work.
* Gracious Living Department: When getting up to leave the room, it’s not necessary to announce your intention to visit the bathroom.
* Stretched-out cats: Pat Holland sent a snapshot of a cat named Chachy taking up 29 inches on a bed. “He’s a red domestic short-hair that hates everybody,” she wrote.
She also sent a picture of a friendlier cat named Abu lying next to a yardstick. From back paws to front paws, he’s almost a yard long.
Sarah Beadling shared a photo of a furry feline called Caspar stretched out three feet across a wooden table.
* Just wondering: Has anyone ever gone directly to a dental appointment after eating a caramel apple?

Aries: Try not to annoy people.
Taurus: Go long.

* Warm-up questions: To the minute, what is Spokane’s most common adult weeknight bedtime? What does your regular cashier say when selling you a lottery ticket?
* Today’s Slice question: What is the most esoteric locally-based Web site?
