Idaho Setter Has Big Night

Behind sophomore Jenny Ne- ville, the University of Idaho volley- ball team leveled Boise State 15-3, 14-16, 15-7, 15-6 Thursday in Memorial Gym at Moscow, Idaho.

Neville, the Vandals setter, tied a school record with 11 kills in 12 attempts for a .917 hitting percentage. Neville also had 11 digs and 55 assists.

The Vandals (13-4, 4-1 Big West) are in sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division.

Women’s soccer

Sara Best headed in one goal and assisted on a last-minute score as University of Idaho (6-5-1) defeated Eastern Washington 3-1 in a non-conference match at Moscow.

Vandals goalkeeper Jenell Miller made nine of her 11 saves in the second half, when EWU (1-9) had a 16-11 edge in shots.

Baseball

Gonzaga’s alumni game is scheduled for noon Saturday at August/A.R.T. Stadium.

Among the alumni participating is Mike Redmond, a former GU catcher who spent the past two seasons with the Florida Marlins.

The Bulldogs also play a 100-inning marathon game, a fund-raiser, starting at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Golf

Teams with local golfers are among the leaders after the first of two rounds of the Pacific Northwest PGA Pro-Am championship at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Ore.

Mark Gardner and Grant Holcomb fired a 7-under-par 65 for a tie for third place, three strokes behind leaders Mark Knowles and Scott Krause.

Steve and Corey Prugh are another shot back, with a 66.
