Ineel Finishes Plan To Deal With Y2K Bug

The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory has finished plans to ensure the lab is running when the first day of the new millennium starts.

And the lab successfully completed a September U.S. Department of Energy-wide Y2K exercise designed to make sure it can handle problems caused by potential computer malfunctions.

The Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory’s business continuity and contingency plan gives personnel a blueprint to follow if emergencies such as a loss of power occur.

Y2K planner Michael Nelson said Thursday the continuity portion of the plan ensures the lab will continue to operate safely, issue paychecks, meet deadlines and keep computer systems running.
