Suspected Drug Dealer Pleads Not Guilty

Suspected methamphetamine dealer David Anthony Culy, 25, of Portland pleaded not guilty in 1st District Court Thursday to charges of drug trafficking and eluding a police officer.

Culy was arrested July 7 following a shootout with Bonner County sheriff’s deputies. Suspected drug dealer Teresa J. Wood, also of Oregon, was killed in the shootout.

Officers were attempting to serve a warrant on Culy for felony eluding, stemming from a high-speed chase the previous day that led to Boundary County.

When officers entered the rental home on Lakeshore Drive south of Sandpoint, where Culy was arrested, they found the largest methamphetamine operation in the county’s history.

Culy’s trial has been set for Jan. 11. Also arrested at the house was Kathrin Ann Hanson, 18, of Portland, who has pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine.
