Car Thefts, Break-Ins Under Investigation

Area law enforcement agencies are investigating a string of recent car thefts in Moscow and car break-ins in Pullman.

Pullman police said eight cars were broken into Wednesday in the upper parking lot of North Campus Heights, at 1540 Merman Drive.

According to Sgt. Chris Tennant, several car owners discovered the damage Thursday and contacted police.

In all of the cases, the suspect or suspects broke a window to the car to gain entry and then took the in-dash stereo. It has not been determined what sort of device was used to break the windows, but considerable damage was done to the dashboards when the stereos were removed.

Across the border in Moscow, police have recovered three vehicles that were stolen last Sunday and Monday.

One vehicle was stolen from Brent Drive, another from East First Street and a third from North Main.

All three vehicles have been recovered. The vehicle stolen from North Main was recovered in California and the suspect who was driving it was arrested, according to Moscow police.
