Lakeland Wins With Three-Pronged Attack

Lakeland had three different ways to throw off St. Maries Friday night.

The running of Casey Phelps and Chad Stutheit, and the passing of Joe Finley allowed the visiting Hawks (6-0, 4-0) to topple St. Maries 47-13 in the Intermountain League.

Phelps rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Stutheit rushed for 101 yards and a TD on 10 carries, and returned a kickoff 76 yards for another score.

Finley completed 8 of 11 passes for 111 yards and a TD. He also rushed for a TD.

Trent Duffey led the Lumberjacks (3-3, 2-2), completing 9 of 12 for 198 yards and both scores.

Also in the IML, Brad Keene rushed for 101 yards and one TD on 15 carries, and Kellogg (5-1, 4-0) overcame a 10-0 halftime deficit to defeat visiting Grangeville 21-10. Kellogg took the lead in the third quarter, on Ryan Mann’s 4-yard run set up by a Grangeville punt to midfield. Kellogg’s final score came after a Grangeville (2-4, 2-2) fumble… . Tim Libby rushed for three TDs in the first half, and Timberlake (3-3, 2-2) defeated visiting Orofino 30-16. Libby, who rushed for 258 yards last week, likely surpassed 100 yards, but the Tigers’ stats were too hard to decipher after a hard rain… . Priest River (3-2-1, 2-2) recorded a 21-9 win at Bonners Ferry (0-6, 0-4).

Non-league Sandpoint runners go wild

Sandpoint (4-2) had three runners eclipse 100 yards, and finished with 462 rushing yards in a 56-21 win over visiting Lewiston (3-3). Steve Jackson had 168 yards and two TDs on 21 carries; Brandon Delewese had 116 yards and four TDs on 21 carries; and Carl Roubicek added 145 yards and one TD on 11 carries.

North Star League Danforth rushes forth

Ben Danforth rushed for 217 yards and two TDs on 26 carries, leading Falls Christian (2-4, 2-2) to a 48-6 win over Kootenai (2-3, 2-2) at Harrison. Falls Christian rushed for 423 yards on 45 carries, including three first-half TD runs by Josh Cooper. Kootenai’s Dan Parrish had four receptions for 93 yards, and added eight tackles.

Central Idaho League Wallace nudges Timberline

Craig Zanetti and Zach Penney combined to rush for 127 yards on 27 carries as Wallace edged visiting Timberline 14-13. Tony Caron of the Miners (4-2, 4-1) completed 3 of 6 for 46 yards.
