Edward Rhodes Blanchard, Idaho
Graveside service for Edward Leroy “Dusty” Rhodes, 76, was held Sept. 27 at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mr. Rhodes, who was born in Arkansas City, Kan., died Sept. 21.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Rhodes married Pearl Price in 1947, and they lived in California, where he worked as a truck driver for 38 years for the East Bay Municipal Utility District.
From 1987 to 1994, Mr. Rhodes and his wife spent summers in Blanchard. They permanently moved to Blanchard in 1994.
He is survived by his wife.
Allan Miller Spokane
Visitation for Allan W. Miller, 85 will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Miller, who was born in Sprague, Wash., died Wednesday.
He graduated from Sprague High School, Washington State University and Kinman Business College. He moved to Spokane in 1936.
Mr. Miller served with the 863rd Army Field Artillery in the European Theater during World War II.
He worked as the office manager at Curtis Construction Co. for 40 years before retiring in 1981.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Associated General Contractors.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Vivian; a daughter, Sandra Burt of Walla Walla; a brother, Donald Miller of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a sister, Edith McMullen of Lake Oswego; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Carol (Steward) Mroczek Deer Park
Funeral for Carol A. “Punky” (Steward) Mroczek, 52, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow at the Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Mroczek, 52, died Tuesday.
Born in Salt Lake City, her family moved to Spokane when she was a child.
Mrs. Mroczek graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1965.
She later lived on Whidbey Island for 20 years and moved to Deer Park in 1994.
Mrs. Mroczek was a homemaker and a member of the Deer Park Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include her husband, John; a son, Michael Weaver of Mead; a daughter, Christina Weaver of Spokane; her mother and stepfather, Mary and Herman Moe of Spokane; a brother, Donald Goldsworth of Spokane; two sisters, Mary Greenland of Spokane and Helen Desenberg of Mead; and two grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Pearl Warriner Elk
Memorial service for Pearl G. Warriner, 94, will be at 1 p.m. today at Peaceful Valley Church in Elk. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Warriner, who was born in Minneapolis, died Sept. 11.
She moved to Montana and then Spokane, graduating from Lewis and Clark High School.
She married Leslie Warriner in 1926 and was a homemaker. They moved to Elk in 1937.
Her husband died in 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Laverne Warriner of Spokane, and Thomas and Carl Warriner, both of Elk; three daughters, Dorothea Schuh of Spokane, Ruth Morrill of Deer Park and Elsie Kiehn of Chattaroy; three sisters, Lillian Dunn of Lake San Marcos, Calif., Francis Gunningham of Camarillo, Calif., and Daisy Bellano of Tucson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Gene Mahaney Spokane
Memorial vigil service for Gene Frederick Mahaney, 83, was Sunday at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church. Funeral was Monday at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Grand Coulee, Wash. Burial followed at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee. Born in Windom, Minn., Mr. Mahaney died Sept. 30.
He spent his early years working on a farm and raising and training horses. He spent several years in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
In 1947 he and his wife moved to Oakridge, Ore., where he worked in the lumber industry.
In 1957 Mr. Mahaney began a long career as a Teamster, building dams. He worked on numerous dams throughout the Western states and spent seven years on the Alaska pipeline.
Mr. Mahaney and his wife moved to Coulee Dam in 1968. He retired in 1976 and moved to Spokane.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; four daughters, Mary Lou Hilliker of Portland, Carole Kurahara of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Kathleen Jaspers of Eugene, Ore., and Sharon Williams of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Michael Mahaney of Ellensburg and Brian Mahaney of Boise; a sister, Phyllis Smith of Tacoma; and 12 grandchildren.

Frances (Records) Stone Ione, Wash.
Memorial service for Frances Anne (Records) Stone, 70, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ione Baptist Church. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stone, who was born in Endicott, Wash., died Wednesday.
She married Merrell Stone in 1971, and they moved to Ione from Kansas in 1973.
Mrs. Stone worked as a registered nurse at Mount Linton Hospital in Metalline Falls, Wash., and later at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Wash. She also worked at the Ione Clinic.
She was a volunteer for Ione Fire Department for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Rebecca Dorn of Spokane; two sons, Bruce Bradburn of Bellevue, Wash., and David Bradburn of North Bend, Wash.; a sister, Jennie Records of Medical Lake; and nine grandchildren.

Beverly Smith Watkins Spokane
Memorial service for Beverly Gayle Smith Watkins, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Inurnment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Smith Watkins died Wednesday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Priscilla Guild at Plymouth Congregational Church and the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She also was a member of a medical auxiliary, for which she served as president.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Jeffery Watkins of Spokane and Michael Watkins of Twin Lakes, Idaho; a daughter, Diane Park of Rathdrum, Idaho; her former husband, Jack Watkins of Spirit Lake, Idaho; a sister, Joanne Nobles of Port Ludlow, Wash.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bessie Farris Spokane
No service will be held for Bessie H. Farris, 62, at her request. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Farris died Tuesday.
She worked as a seamstress for Scollard’s Dry Cleaners.
Her husband of 46 years, Dennis Farris, died in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Mitch and Darrell Farris, both of Spokane; two sisters, Marie Griffis and Evelyn Mason, both of Spokane; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arthur Bourcy Seven Bays, Wash.
No service will be held for Arthur H. Bourcy, 80, at his request. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bourcy, who was born in Shevlin, Minn., died Wednesday.
He served in the Army Air Corps from 1940 to 1949.
Mr. Bourcy moved to Spokane in 1949. He worked as a mechanic, truck driver, heavy equipment operator and carpenter in the Spokane area.
He retired in 1981 and moved to Seven Bays.
He was a member of the Wilbur (Wash.) Veterans of Foreign Wars, North Star Grange and the Rice Odd Fellows Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Louise; three sons, David Bourcy of Spokane, Michael Bourcy of Liberty Lake and Tommy Bourcy of Loon Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Marlene Yaeger of Spokane, Marcia Bell of Fairchild Air Force Base and Dianne Pritt of Bellevue, Wash.; four stepchildren, Leslie Etue of Fruitland, Wash., Nickolette McMurray of Monroe, Wash., Lynn David of Salem, Ore., and Art David of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Mildred Cooper of Colorado; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Oscar Aune Colfax, Wash.
Funeral for Oscar Aune, 85, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Selbu Lutheran Church near LaCrosse, Wash. Burial will follow at Selbu Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime LaCrosse-area resident, Mr. Aune died Thursday. He was born in Hay, Wash.
He graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1931 and married Prudence Kyllo in 1940.
He farmed in the LaCrosse area and retired in 1983.
Mr. Aune moved to Colfax five years ago.
He was a member of Selbu Lutheran Church and Lutheran Brotherhood. He also was a board member of the Hillray Retirement Plaza.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carolyn Broderick of Colton, Wash.; a sister, Thelma Bjorlie of Ashland, Ore.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gale (Brink) Hunter Pullman
Memorial service for Gale F. (Brink) Hunter, 47, was Thursday at Living Faith Fellowship in Pullman. Mrs. Hunter died Saturday.
She was born in Centralia, Wash., and graduated from Centralia High School.
Mrs. Hunter moved to Pullman in 1970.
She graduated from Washington State University in 1975 with a degree in elementary education. She married Kevin Hunter the same year.
Mrs. Hunter worked in child-care centers and as a substitute teacher. She also worked as a kindergarten teacher at Pullman Christian School.
She had been part of the pastoral staff of Living Faith Fellowship since 1978. She worked as director of children’s ministries.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, David, Christopher and Joshua Hunter, all of Pullman; and her mother, Frances Brink, and a brother, Floyd Brink, both of Centralia.
Orlin Boone Spokane
No services will be held for Orlin Wilbur Boone, 61, at his request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
A 30-year Spokane resident, Mr. Boone died Wednesday. He was born in Donnelly, Minn.
Mr. Boone owned and operated BAM Trucking. He worked as a longhaul truck driver for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marcella; three children, Richard Boone, Toni Boone and Terri Withers, all of Spokane; a brother, Mitchell Boone of Benson, Minn.; a sister, Anita Landmark of Glenwood, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
