WEST

Colorado 46, Missouri 39 (OT): Mike Moschetti threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Stiggers in overtime, and Ben Kelly subsequently intercepted a fourth-down pass as the Buffaloes (3-2, 2-0 Big 12) outlasted the Tigers (3-2, 0-2) at Boulder, Colo.

Colorado rallied from a 25-18 deficit with three consecutive touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Interceptions by Brady McDonnell and Damen Wheeler accounted for two of the scores, helping the Buffaloes take a 39-25 lead with 4:12 left.

But quarterback Kirk Farmer, a redshirt freshman, sparked Missouri to two touchdowns and a 39-39 tie at the end of regulation. Farmer completed a 55-yard pass to Kent Layman and then scrambled 21 yards for a TD, cutting the deficit to 39-32 with 3:04 remaining.

The Tigers then recovered an onside kick, and Farmer’s 27-yard pass to Eric Spencer with 1:42 left produced the tie.

UNLV 35, Wyoming 32: Duane James caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for another score as the Runnin’ Rebels (3-3, 1-1 Mountain West) upset the Cowboys (3-2, 1-1) at Laramie, Wyo, giving UNLV its first conference road win since 1994.

New Mexico 24, San Diego St. 21: Sean Stein threw two touchdown passes and Brian Urlacher returned a fumble 71 yards for another score to lead the Lobos (2-3, 1-0 Mountain West) to victory against the Aztecs (2-4, 0-2) at San Diego.

Utah 42, Louisiana-Monroe 0: T.D. Croshaw replaced injured quarterback Darnell Arceneaux (sprained foot) and threw four touchdowns passes to lead the Utes (4-1) over the Indians (2-4) at Salt Lake City.

Fresno State 44, Colorado St. 13: Derrick Ward rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (4-2) over the Rams (3-2) at Fresno, Calif.

SOUTH

Duke 24, Virginia 17 (2OT): Duke forced overtime with a bizarre touchdown pass from one wide receiver to another, and Spencer Romine’s 7-yard toss to Benjamin Watson in the second extra period gave the Blue Devils (1-4, 1-2 ACC) a victory over the Cavaliers (3-3, 2-2) at Charlottesville, Va.

After a 3-yard run by Thomas Jones gave the Cavaliers a 17-10 lead with 1:24 left, Duke drove to the Virginia 9. Romaine pitched to Letavious Wilks, who fumbled when hit by linebacker Byron Thweat.

Wideout Scottie Montgomery scooped up the loose ball and heaved it across the field to Richmond Flowers for the tying touchdown with 6 seconds left.

Maryland 17, Wake Forest 14: Calvin McCall and LaMont Jordan rallied Maryland for 10 points in the last 10 minutes and the Terrapins (4-1, 1-1 ACC) surpassed their 1998 victory total by defeating the Demon Deacons (3-2, 1-2) at Winston-Salem, N.C.

McCall completed both of his passes (for 92 yards) on Maryland’s two fourth-quarter scoring drives, helping the Terrapins erase a 14-7 deficit.

Jordan rushed for 89 yards and teamed with McCall for a 70-yard scoring pass that tied the score. Jordan had 39 yards on three carries on the decisive drive, a 68-yard march that set up Brian Kopka’s 19-yard field goal with 3:25 remaining.

N.C. State 35, Clemson 31: Jamie Barnette threw four touchdown passes and Rahshon Spikes ran for 104 yards and a touchdown as the Wolfpack (4-2, 1-2 ACC) defeated the Tigers (2-3, 2-1) at Raleigh, N.C.

Kentucky 30, South Carolina 10: Dusty Bonner passed for one touchdown and ran for another as the Wildcats (4-2, 2-1 SEC) defeated the Gamecocks (0-6, 0-4) at Columbia, S.C., and kept coach Lou Holtz winless.

Mississippi 20, Tulane 13: Joe Gunn rushed for 120 yards, including five straight carries for a touchdown after a Tulane fumble in the fourth quarter, as the Rebels (5-1) defeated the Green Wave (2-3) at Oxford, Miss.

Ole Miss scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to come from behind and improve to 5-1 for the first time since 1990. The Rebels also won their 18th straight non-conference game over the past five years.

Vanderbilt 58, The Citadel 0: Rodney Williams ran for four touchdowns in the first half and the Commodores (4-2) took advantage of their first game against a Division I-AA school since 1985 with a rout of the Bulldogs (1-4) at Nashville, Tenn.

EAST

Temple 24, Boston College 14: At Philadelphia, alternate quarterback Devin Scott led Temple on three consecutive scoring drives as the Owls (1-5, 1-1 Big East) broke into the win column by handing the Eagles (4-1, 1-1) their first loss.

Air Force 19, Navy 14: Backup quarterback Mike Thiessen ran for 108 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons (4-1) rallied to defeat the Midshipmen (2-4) at Landover, Md., after trailing 7-0 at haltime.

SOUTHWEST

TCU 42, San Jose St. 0: LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 300 yards, including touchdown runs of 89 and 74 yards, as the Horned Frogs (2-3, 1-1 WAC) defeated the Spartans at Fort Worth, Texas.

San Jose State entered the game with the nation’s ninth-ranked offense, averaging 462 yards. The Spartans gained 486 yards in upsetting Stanford last week, but were held to 246 yards by TCU.

Arkansas 58, Middle Tennessee 6: Over the game’s first 17 minutes, Arkansas’ Cedric Cobbs returned a kickoff 95 yards, while Chrys Chukwuma broke tackles and jumped over defenders, Carlos Hall blindsided the quarterback, Jamel Harris intercepted a pass and Boo Williams outjumped a defender on a 30-yard touchdown pass.

It was 21-0 with 3:34 to play in the first quarter and the Razorbacks (3-2) were on their way to the rout of the Blue Raiders (1-5) at Fayetteville, Ark.

Oklahoma St. 41, Texas Tech 21: Oklahoma State opened up the offense and B.J. Tiger responded, throwing two touchdown passes and running for a score to lead the Cowboys (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) past the Red Raiders (2-3, 1-1) at Stillwater, Okla.

Texas-El Paso 42, SMU 28: Paul Smith rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Miners (3-3, 1-1 WAC) over the Mustangs (0-5, 0-2) at El Paso, Texas.

MIDWEST

Indiana 34, Northwestern 17: Quarterback Antwaan Randle El scored three touchdowns and Levron Williams rushed for a career-high 241 yards, leading the Hoosiers (3-3, 2-1 Big Ten) to a come-from-behind victory over the Wildcats (2-4, 0-3) at Bloomington, Ind.

Northwestern led 14-0 after a 75-yard interception return by Harold Blackmon late in the first quarter, but Indiana took control with three touchdowns in the second quarter.

Sam Hairston intercepted a batted pass to set up Mike Clark’s 18-yard field goal with 5 seconds remaining as Houston defeated Cincinnati 23-20… . Ryan White set a school record with five field goals, including four of more than 40 yards, to lead visiting Memphis to a 38-14 win over Alabama-Birmingham… . Robert Sanford ran 25 yards for a touchdown on Western Michigan’s first overtime play, giving the visiting Broncos a 40-37 victory over Eastern Michigan… . Kent Baker kicked three field goals and Northern Illinois’ defense scored twice as the Huskies routed visiting Ball State 37-17… . Brandon Payne scored three touchdowns and rushed for 94 yards on 18 carries as Akron beat visiting Ohio 41-28… . Eric Flowers rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns as Central Michigan beat winless Buffalo 38-19 at Amherst, N.Y., snapping the Chippewas’ four-game losing streak… . Tavares Bolden and Dan Cole each threw two touchdown passes to lead Toledo to a 47-7 win over visiting Kent.
