Cops Seek Suspects In Road Rage Cases

Police are searching for a man with a red pickup who punched another driver during a bout of road rage Thursday evening.

The victim was driving north on Hamilton, near Interstate 90, shortly before midnight. He told police he was tailgated by a newer red Ford or Dodge pickup with two men inside.

The truck passed his car and stopped, blocking his vehicle. Two men got out, he said, came to the victim’s car, yelled at him, and one of them hit him in the face several times.

The man throwing the punches was described as white, with brown hair, in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, and between 165 and 180 pounds. After the assault, the pair jumped in the truck and drove away.

Two other road rage incidents were reported Thursday, Spokane police say. About 3 p.m. a driver driving north on Maple near Indiana was forced to slow down by the driver of a 1990 gray Subaru wagon.

She changed lanes, but the driver, whose car had Washington license plates, pulled ahead of her and then slammed on his brakes, she said. The victim drove around him, but the harasser again got in front of her, stopped, got out and attempted to get into her car.

He then hit her mirror and drove away, police say.

The third incident occurred about noon Thursday. It involved a woman being harassed by the driver behind her when she stopped to allow a firetruck with lights and sirens to pass on the Greene Street Bridge.
