Oden Bay Sewage Decision Postponed

Bonner County Commissioners agreed Thursday to wait a month before making a decision on a controversial subdivision and sewage lagoon in Oden Bay area.

The decision will allow developer Jeff Pfaeffle and partner Paul Trunell to redraw their plans and provide more information to the commission.

As it now stands, the proposal calls for 14 lots on 130 acres, plus a community sewage system that would serve up to 30 homes. The system would allow former Ku Klux Klan leader Louis Beam to develop his property next to the proposed subdivision. Now, several property owners cannot build in the area because they can’t get approval for septic systems.

A neighborhood coalition has hired an engineer to fight the proposal on environmental and legal grounds. The new hearing is set for Nov. 18.
