Plans For Rathdrum To Be Unveiled

Plans to revitalize the Main Street area in Rathdrum will be unveiled in a town meeting tonight.

Tom Hudson, a planning consultant the city hired, will present his proposals in a meeting that will begin at 7 p.m. at city hall. Hudson and Lorraine Roach presented some of their ideas to the city in August. At this meeting they will present the final version of the plans.

The Gem Community Committee also will reveal its action plan for 2000 at tonight’s town meeting. The committee is made of citizens who worked to have the city attain Gem Community status. That status, which is granted by the Idaho Department of Commerce, means the city has developed a plan for improving the town and makes the city eligible for grants.

The Gem Community Committee plan will address parks and recreation, economic development and other aspects of the city.
